I am a proud member of America's essential profession. I am a lawyer.
Without the rule of law, a free and open society is but a dream, capitalism stagnates, and dictators emerge. The law makes the American republic possible.
But as I celebrate our legal system's rich history, I recognize that the legal profession in America- the people and institutions that tend to the law on a daily basis– must, like the law itself, adapt to economic and cultural changes.
It is this belief that leads me to publicly pledge to improve my profession:
- I will strive to make the legal process more fair, timely, effective, and legal documents more understandable.
- I will ethically advocate for my clients without being an unnecessary adversary to others, while always seeking resolution that serves everyone involved.
- I will view legal service to the underprivileged and the underserved as an honor and a key component of my role in the community.
- I will use the power of technology to do my work better, faster, and more efficiently.
- I will work to modernize legal education
- I will help remake the profession I hold dear so it can more fully honor America’s promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not only for our client's but for family and myself as well.
I am an innovator, a maverick, and a pathfinder.
I am a Legal Rebel.
